Pascal Programming Module II

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This module focuses on complex data types such as arrays, records, files, and pointers. You are also introduced to the use of recursion as a problem solving tool.

PREREQUISITES:

Pascal Module I or equivalent skills

COURSE LENGTH:

This course contains 12 lesson units and 1 test.

UNIT-BY-UNIT TOPICAL OUTLINE:

Unit 1 - Array types, multidimensional arrays

Unit 2 - Packed arrays of characters

Unit 3 - The record data type

Unit 4 - Using the record data type to handle strings

Unit 5 - External data files (RESET, REWRITE, ASSIGN, CLOSE)

Unit 6 - Binary files (files of a user-defined record type)

Unit 7 - The set data type, performing I/O operations

Unit 8 - Solving problems by means of recursive functions

Unit 9 - Recursive procedures in Pascal

Unit 10 - Pointers, the NEW function, the DISPOSE function

Unit 11 - Dynamic data structures (stacks)

Unit 12 - Review of units 1 through 12

Test - Comprehensive final exam
