Intermediate BASIC Programming

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course introduces you to the programming structures you will need to accomplish virtually any computing task. You will learn how decision structures and loop structures are used to perform standard processing operations such as sorting and searching.

PREREQUISITES:

Introduction to BASIC or equivalent skills

This course contains 16 lesson units and 1 test.

Unit 1 - IF...THEN...ELSE statements

Unit 2 - The logical operators: AND, OR, NOT; data validation

Unit 3 - Nested IF structures for selecting one of three alternate paths

Unit 4 - Nested IF structures for selecting from any number of paths

Unit 5 - Principles of looping structures

Unit 6 - The FOR statement, the NEXT statement, the STEP statement

Unit 7 - Nested FOR-NEXT loops

Unit 8 - Feedback loops, the INT() function

Unit 9 - The WHILE statement, the WEND statement

Unit 10 - One-dimensional arrays

Unit 11 - Sequential search of an array

Unit 12 - Sorting an array

Unit 13 - Binary search of a sorted array

Unit 14 - Multidimensional arrays

Unit 15 - The index sort

Unit 16 - Review

Test - Comprehensive final exam
